On behalf of the people of the Stourdene Benefice I warmly welcome you to our website and hope that in due course we will have the pleasure of meeting you in person. We are a community of faith rooted in the love of God. We believe worship is not just found in prayer, it’s something expressed in everything we do.
Rev'd Nicki
Faith is often referred to as a journey and we welcome all individuals seeking God’s love.
You are assured a warm welcome whether you are new to the area or have lived here for some time; you are new to faith: you have been away and are coming back; or you are just wanting to explore your faith.

The Stourdene Benefice is a group of Church of England parishes in the county of Warwickshire in the Diocese of Coventry. It is a rural benefice comprising of the parishes of Alderminster, Butlers Marston, Ettington, Halford, Newbold-on-Stour with Armscote and Pillerton Hersey with Pillerton Priors.
Our church family is richly diverse, with people of different ages and backgrounds coming together to worship and serve together. We strive to make our churches a place of acceptance, peace and joy for all. Get in touch to find out more or join us for a service.
We expect to find God in Church and in our private prayer but have you ever wondered where he is the rest of the time?
If we open our eyes we can see him.
If we open our ears, we can hear him.
If we open our hearts, we can know him.
God is not far from any one of us, for in him we live and move and have our being.
We can find God in places of worship, on a mountainside, in the faces and actions of other people and even when when we are doing the washing up! God is everywhere around and within us. If we choose we can meet with God every minute of every day.
Welcome to Your Churches
We are welcoming, inclusive and active churches
THE STOURDENE BENEFICE is an inclusive church committed to Christ and His word. We are dedicated to sharing the love of Christ through ministry, fellowship and worship. Our church is not just a house of worship. At its core are the members and believers that come together to practice God’s word, celebrate His love and extend His gifts to all.
The Institution
of The Reverend Nicki Chatterton
as Rector of Stourdene
“You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last.” John 15: 16
On Saturday 27th April, Nicki Chatterton was officially installed as Rector of the Stourdene Benefice which comprises the parishes of Alderminster, Butlers Marsten, Ettington, Halford, Newbold-on-Stour and The Pillertons. Throughout the service which was led by Acting Bishop of Coventry, Ruth Worsley, Nicki was surrounded by friends and family, Church Wardens, members of the congregations from the parishes as well as local clergy. It was a lovely occasion, crammed full of Church of English pomp and ceremony, yet also personal and intimate. Nicki is looking forward to this next phase of her ministry here in Ettington and the Stourdene Benefice.
CHURCH SERVICES
Worship and Prayer is key to our faith in Stourdene. We have several churches which offer a number of different services. Our service rota includes daily prayer, Holy Communion, Individual Prayer, and more.
We look forward to worshiping with you.
PRAYER
The churches are usually open daily from early morning to late afternoon. We welcome all ages and backgrounds for personal prayer.
The Bible says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need,
and thank him for all he has done.”
God wants us to spend time with him in prayer.
CHILDREN AND
FAMILIES
At Stourdene we are passionate about sharing the christian faith with children and young families. We seek to help children to understand more about God's love for them through working with our local primary schools, Open the Book and church led events.

Worship and Prayer are key to the congregations in the Stourdene Benefice. Christians in small rural communities often feel called to worship locally, whatever their own denominations, churchmanship or ages. We value this diversity and are pleased that it is reflected in our pattern of worship across the month, which includes modern and traditional language Eucharists, informal Family Services, modern language Morning Prayer and traditional language Evening Prayer.
Look at our service rota, plan your visit and we look forward to meeting you.

LIFE EVENTS
There are particular moments in all our lives which will have special significance for us: the celebration of a wedding; the christening of a child; or a funeral to mark and give thanks for a loved ones life.
We would love to support you through these key times, or Life Events as we call them. We have a wealth of experience guiding and supporting people through some of the happiest, and sometimes the most difficult in their lives.
Please contact Reverend Nicki Chatterton to talk about ways we can help in holding your significant Life Event in one of the Stourdene churches.
WEDDINGS
Marrying in church is personal, meaningful and spiritual just as you want it to be. Churches are special and unique places to get married in – the prayers, promises and the whole service of celebration become part of your marriage, on the day itself and beyond.
CHRISTENINGS &
CONFIRMATION
At Christening you are baptised with water and the Holy Spirit. It is the start of an amazing journey of faith for your child and a special day for all your friends and family.
Confirmation is the opportunity to profess your faith before God and his people.
FUNERALS
The church will always be there to help you through one of life's most difficult times. A Church of England Funeral is available to everyone, giving support before, during and after the service, for as long as its needed.
